Headwaters co LTD., ×Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin Collaboration Pepper App Development Classes

Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin and Headwaters co LTD., held 5 classes developing an application of Pepper. Aldebaran Robotics SAS has already started introducing of robots for middle education. We, headwaters are thinking to offer educational solutions for the demands from education fields. Since we'd like the young generation to have interests for ICT and fascinated by the policy and passion for ICT education in Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin, the classes were start.

The class was for 40 students in second and third grades, set the theme as "A Pepper we want in our school". The students took part in the process of thinking ideas and programming an application, and we were joined as tutors.

Application planning

First of all, the students discussed and made a small presentation about their application plans.

The ideas we can't even think of were very unique and got us excited

The faces of students were bright when they met Pepper first time.

We decided to develop 3 applications from their ideas.

Application development lecture

2 to 3 people in a group decided the move and what Pepper speak and started developing 3 apps, "an app to makes us smile", "guidance app for visitors" and "an app makes our feelings good in the school infirmary".

Students use a soft were kit called "Choregraphe" which we can build a program intuitively without cording. The students made it success to create complicated movements while they were struggling.

we couldn't stop expecting that we might see robot engineers or developers from them in the future when we look at the serious faces of the students.

Presentation

The students made presentations to show what they made with Pepper.
They made happy laughing sounds every time Pepper makes move.

We hope they could have enjoyed programming and find joy of bringing ideas in real.
We also could find the possibility of introducing robots into education field.

We hope young generation could have interests in ICT through these activities.
